Table Setting (2000)

A simple table was made. Plates, bowls, cups, and a vase were hand made in a glass blowing studio. The flatware came from a second hand store. The table was set and photographed. Then the glass was re-made and the table was set as the pieces were again being made in the glass blowing studio.  Instead of putting the objects in the cooling oven then were placed directly on the surface of the table (while still hot) in the same manner as would happen on a daily basis.  I was interested in the need of utilitarian objects and the idea of making as directly preceding the end use. The burn marks record the materials placement and interaction in a familiar context.
