Fence View (2005)
“Sometimes I think about how weird it is that when we take photographs we’re only looking with one eye (and one lens) and therefore when we look at photography we’re actually looking at a one eyed view with a two eyed veiw…”
This project was part of an outdoor sculpture exhibition called Riverlands presented and organized by Gallery 96 in Stratford, Ontario. The drawing(s) on the fence are essentially multiple (84 to be exact) mirror image sketches of the view facing the fence, which in this instance included the river. The work was inspired by a historical stereoptician (two eyed view) of the river.
